Overview

Norman Virus
Control (NVC) for MIMEsweeper 4.2_10 is an
antivirus plug-in to the MAIL- and
WEBsweeper members of the MIMEsweeper
product family. This plug-in enables
MIMEsweeper to search for computer viruses
in the emails and Internet downloads passing
through the gateway.
NVC will even remove viruses from files
attached to the emails. When NVC has removed
the viruses, the attachment or downloaded
files can be considered safe, and the mail
may safely be transferred to the recipient.
If NVC for any reason cannot remove the
virus, MIMEsweeper quarantines the infected
email. To be able to detect possible
computer virus outbreaks as early as
possible, it is imperative that the
antivirus software placed at the gateway
works proactively. Using the unique Norman
SandBox II technology, companies can for the
first time be proactive in detecting new and
unknown computer viruses, worms and even
Trojans.

scanning and cleaning of in- and outgoing
mail that passes through MIMEsweeper.

Norman Virus Control’s components to perform
several tasks, such as updating virus
signature files via Internet.
