Microsoft has once again
chosen Norman Virus Control with SandBox to ensure that
Microsoft products are virus free when delivered to the
market.
Over the last year Microsoft’s release labs have used
Norman Virus Control with SandBox to ensure that all
software is free from viruses and worms before being
released to end users. The results have been so
convincing, that Microsoft again has selected Norman
Virus Control with SandBox for testing of all new
software, patches, upgrades etc. before the products are
released to the market.
“This is an important recognition of the capacity and
effectiveness of the SandBox-technology. We are proud
that Microsoft chooses to use our antivirus product to
ensure that viruses do not infect new software releases.
Microsoft is just one of several prestigious companies
now choosing Norman Virus Control with SandBox to
eliminate viruses", says Norman’s CEO, Henning Hansen.
Norman is a key player in the Microsoft Virus
Information Alliance, together with nine other
international antivirus companies. Norman works closely
with Microsoft to identify new viruses and determine the
impact of these viruses to Microsoft’s products and
costumers.
As part of the security-alliance between Norman and
Microsoft, Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) has had
support for Norman Virus Control since the launch of
SP2. Microsoft launched the Service Pack 2 in August
2004.
Norman Virus Control with SandBox represents a milestone
in the war against viruses, because of its capacity to
stop new and unknown viruses from damaging computers.
SandBox allows suspicious files to enter a closed
system, which emulates a normal network environment
believing it has reached the computer; the suspicious
file is run and it’s actual intentions is revealed. This
makes it easy for Norman SandBox to eliminate the not
yet signature-defined virus before it does any damage to
the computer.
