An anonymous proxy is a website which allows the user to browse through it to other sites without disclosing their URLs to any filtering software.

It only takes one proxy to put a gaping hole in your network security. Using a web filtering solution that doesn't block proxies is the equivalent of putting a big bolt on your front door but leaving the back door wide open.
Proxies are typically presented to the user as a form and often have misleading or legitimate-sounding URLs to evade detection (e.g. mathshelp.info and examstudies.com). To make matters worse, proxy domain names change constantly, and hence it is impossible for lesser vendors to maintain an accurate blocklist of proxy sites. There are now millions of proxy anonymizers in existence with miscreants developing new types faster than security vendors can detect and block them.

Fortunately, thanks to our development team's commitment to ensure that detection signatures are constantly kept up to date, Guardian has an excellent proxy-blocking record. Guardian Filters utilize multiple proxy-blocking defenses, including Dynamic Content Analysis, which detects the tell-tale signatures of different proxy types. In the last 18 months, the number of types of proxy we detect has quadrupled.
